The team

The External Communications team is responsible for managing media relationships and engaging stakeholders across the agency and communications sector. Core functions include managing media enquiries, producing press releases, pitching and managing interviews, staging press conferences, creating media briefing packs including question-and-answer materials and developing innovative content across multiple communications channels.


The role

As a Communications Officer, you'll help shape ASIC's public voice and strengthen its reputation through timely, accurate, and engaging communications. You'll also:

* Write, edit, and proofread content for internal and external audiences across multiple formats and platforms
* Develop and pitch media opportunities, cultivating strong relationships with journalists and media outlets
* Support communications projects and events with research, copywriting, and editorial input
* Evaluate content performance using analytics to inform future strategies
* Collaborate with other communications teams to ensure consistency and alignment across ASIC


About you

You hold relevant qualifications in communications or a related discipline and have built your career in fast-paced environments where news moves quickly and messaging matters. You're a skilled writer and editor, confident crafting content that's timely, engaging, and tailored to the audience. You know how to spot a story, pitch it effectively, and manage media relationships with credibility and finesse. Experience working with financial or regulatory topics is a plus, as is familiarity with tools like SharePoint, Campaign Monitor, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop.

You stay across the news daily and bring a strong sense of what's current, what's coming, and how to respond. You're highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrive when juggling shifting priorities. You work well under pressure, communicate clearly, and collaborate with ease. You're proactive, adaptable, and bring a campaign mindset to everything you do - focused on outcomes, impact, and audience engagement.
