Since commencing operations in 1988, OptiMed has served ophthalmologists, optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses, optical dispensers, and hospitals across Australia and New Zealand, with a commitment to providing quality products and excellent service.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic full-time Field Service Technician to support our Australian customer base and national team. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repairs of diagnostic instruments, software, and consultation room furniture. Training customers on equipment use and maintenance is a key component, enabling the sharing of professional skills and experience. The role also includes demonstrating equipment at our workshop and industry exhibitions.
This position requires travel across South Australia, with an office base located in Bowden for work when not on the road.
About the Role
1. Installation of ophthalmic equipment and associated systems software and hardware.
2. Quality assurance testing, preventative maintenance, and onsite repairs of equipment.
3. IT support and installations (online, phone, and onsite).
4. Setting up and packing trade exhibition/conference booths; occasional weekend and after-hours work, including travel.
5. Preparing and dispatching goods for customer orders and demonstrations, including trade shows.
6. Assisting technical team members with various operational tasks.
7. Logging faults and reporting to management and manufacturers.
8. Managing instrument loans, returns, and repair logistics.
9. Submitting detailed service reports for all jobs.
10. Coordinating with engineers, technicians, office, and warehouse staff, including interstate teams.
11. Occasional manual handling of heavy equipment on-site.
12. Flexibility with work hours and travel is essential.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
* Proficiency in IT and basic electronic circuitry troubleshooting with diagnostic equipment.
* Experience working with Windows OS and small LANs.
* Holder of a Restricted Electrical License (REL) or ability to obtain one.
* Valid Australian driver's license is mandatory.
* Forklift license is advantageous (training will be provided).
* ESTSA Level 1 certification is a plus (training will be provided).
* High attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
