Description
We are seeking a committed and versatile Caretaker to serve at our newly established Outdoor Education & Retreat Centre.
This is a residential role with housing provided on-site, offering a unique opportunity to live and minister within a vibrant, purpose-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Embody and express the Christian ethos of SPCC in all aspects of work and relationships.
Create a warm, welcoming, and spiritually nurturing environment for all guests and visitors.
Serve as a visible and prayerful presence on-site, modelling servant leadership and care.
Ensure all facilities are safe, clean, and operational.
Coordinate and supervise external trades and contractors.
Perform minor repairs and routine building maintenance.
Oversee groundskeeping including lawns and outdoor facilities.
Manage daily security procedures, including after-hours security response.
Act as the first point of contact for visitors, guests, and program participants.
Manage the smooth running of catering operations during group bookings.
Assist with on-site resource allocations for all bookings.
Manage booking systems for calendars, programmes, accommodation, and site usage.
Maintain accurate records and schedules for site usage.
Liaise with internal teams and external groups to coordinate logistics.
Ensure compliance with operational procedures, site policies, WHS requirements and SafeWork practices.
Work collaboratively with all on-site team members.
Contribute to building the Christian culture onsite.
Maintain office supplies, records, and basic financial tracking.
Assist with emergency response and safety protocols.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the mission of SPCC.
A current Working with Children Check (WWCC), including any live-in adult family members.
Experience in building or property maintenance.
Groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred.
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as team and culture-building skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic computer literacy skills (email, booking systems, spreadsheets).
Skills and Experiences
A heart for Christian ministry and service.
Experience in retreat, camp, or outdoor education settings.
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to live on-site and be available for occasional after-hours needs.
Experience of group hospitality is an advantage.
Remuneration & Benefits
Salary based on AIS Independent Schools PAOS MEA.
