Key Accountabilities
We are looking for Accountant to join our Finance team in the Brisbane office to support the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Controller with general ledger accounting, organising, planning, budgeting and reporting of the firm's financial information.
This role would suit someone in the early stages of their Accounting career, as they continue to work through their CA/CPA studies.
Financial & Statutory Reporting
* Work with the Senior Financial Accountant to produce the Full Year statutory accounts.
* Interface with external auditors and facilitate audit requests.
* Assist with DSO (Day Sales Outstanding) management and Bad Debt provisioning.
* Create work papers to support audit balances and accounting positions.
* Tax compliance activities as required – Income tax, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, etc.
FP&A
* Assist the annual budget cycle.
Transactional accounting
* Complete the end of month process, including preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Advise relevant employees and leaders on the treatment of unusual or complex transactions including FX.
* Assist when required with the reconciliation of Group accounts.
Process improvements and AASB changes
* Work with the Senior Financial Accountant to ensure Group subsidiary business units are aligned with Group accounting policies and processes.
* Recommend process improvements across all accounting functions.
* Assist as directed with SAP S/4 HANA implementation – migration of data, UAT, regression testing, etc.
Experience and Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or similar discipline.
* CA/CPA or equivalent, either fully qualified or working towards.
* 2+ years' experience in a commercial environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and proven ability to learn new systems/technology.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.
