Location: Walkerville Netball Club | Netball SA Premier League
Term: Seasonal Appointment (with potential for annual review)
The Premier League Reserves Coach plays a pivotal role in the development and progression of emerging elite athletes within the Netball South Australia Premier League framework. As the leader of the Reserves team, the coach is responsible for fostering a high-performance environment that aligns with Walkerville Netball Club's values and strategic goals, while also supporting the broader athlete pathway into Premier League-level netball.
The Reserves Coach works collaboratively with the Premier League Head Coach, club support staff, to ensure athletes are physically, tactically, technically, and mentally prepared to progress to the Premier League level.
Responsibilities
* Work with Premier League Head Coach to design and deliver a season-long training and match plan aligned with high-performance principles.
* Ensure holistic development of athletes including technical, tactical, physical, and psychological preparation.
* Identify and support athletes with potential for Premier League selection and higher representation.
* Provide regular, constructive, and individualised feedback to athletes on performance and development areas.
Alignment with Premier League Program
* Collaborate closely with the Premier League Head Coach to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy, training methods, and game strategies across both squads.
* Attend combined training sessions, strategy meetings, and match reviews when appropriate.
* Provide regular performance updates and insights on Reserves players for selection discussions.
* Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture reflective of Walkerville Netball Club and Netball SA values.
* Model integrity, resilience, and accountability in all coaching interactions.
* Uphold player wellbeing and maintain open communication with athletes, families, and support networks.
Game Day Responsibilities
* Lead all aspects of game day preparation and performance, including pre-match strategy, in-game coaching, and post-match review.
* Monitor and manage court time and rotations to ensure athlete development and team competitiveness.
* Provide injury management support in collaboration with club physiotherapists and support staff.
Talent Identification & Pathway Integration
* Engage with local and regional talent identification processes to scout and support emerging athletes.
* Support transition plans for identified Reserves players stepping into Premier League roles.
* Contribute to athlete movement and progression across Walkerville's junior, senior, and performance programs.
Administrative and Compliance Duties
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of all administrative tasks, including training plans, match reports, and performance tracking.
* Adhere to all policies and codes of conduct outlined by Walkerville Netball Club and Netball SA, including Member Protection, Child Safety, and Anti-Doping.
* Accredited Intermediate Coaching Accreditation (minimum).
* Demonstrated experience in coaching at a performance level, ideally within a Premier league or development pathway.
* Strong leadership, communication, and athlete management skills.
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a broader performance team.
* Commitment to continual professional development.
