Job Description
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Business Development & Sales team. Reporting to the Director – Passenger, this strategic, high-impact role is responsible for driving business growth, expanding customer relationships, and securing new opportunities. You will play a critical role in developing and executing sales strategies and building long-term partnerships.
Some accountabilities will include:
* Develop and execute strategic business development and sales plans
* Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, industry partners, manufacturers, and technology providers
* Understand and articulate the company's customer value proposition to support client requirements and outcomes
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities within domestic and international rail markets
* Develop compelling commercial offers using customer insights, market intelligence, and business data
* Negotiate and manage mutually beneficial commercial agreements and contracts
* Maintain and manage sales pipelines, leads, and opportunity tracking systems
* Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activity, political environments, investment priorities, and emerging technologies
* Deliver confident and compelling presentations to clients and stakeholders
* Support account acquisition, retention, and growth activities across the business
About You:
* At least 5 years' experience in a senior management, sales, or business development role
* Strong understanding of the global rail industry and market landscape (desirable)
* Proven track record in business development, account growth, and revenue generation
* Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
* Strong commercial, negotiation, and contract management capability
* Ability to analyse and utilise market and customer data to develop strategic opportunities
* Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to influence and win business
* Ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholder groups
* Ability to travel interstate and internationally as required
