The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer/Draftsperson to join our growing in‑house design team as we continue to self‑perform design delivery across our renewable energy projects.
This role offers an opportunity to work directly alongside our engineers, project managers, and designers to deliver end‑to‑end design packages for major Solar, Wind, and BESS projects — from concept through to construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed electrical design drawings, including single‑line diagrams, general arrangements, schematics, and termination diagrams for Solar, Wind, and BESS projects.
* Support the development of High Voltage, Low Voltage, and Control System designs across a variety of renewable projects.
* Collaborate with electrical and civil engineers to produce design packages for switchrooms, substations, and balance‑of‑plant systems.
* Contribute to design standards, drawing templates, and QA processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across all SPD projects.
* Assist with as‑built documentation and design coordination during construction.
* Work with engineers to transition SPD's drafting capability toward 3D design and modelling tools.
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an electrical design/drafting role (renewable energy, substation, or HV/LV experience highly regarded).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred); experience with other programmes ideal.
* Strong understanding of electrical design documentation, including schematics, GAs, and layout plans.
* High attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary project team.
* Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to manage priorities within project deadlines.
