**The Role**
As an Assistant Director - Data Strategy and Governance at the Department of Education, you will support the Director to lead data governance and strategic data sharing activities for the Early Childhood Data and Preschool Branch.
The Early Childhood Data and Preschool Branch has stewardship of rich and informative early childhood education and care (ECEC) data sources including Child Care Subsidy data (held in the Services Australia Enterprise Data Warehouse), the Australian Early Development Census and the ECEC National Workforce Census. We also regularly survey the ECEC community, including services, workers, and parents/guardians of children accessing care.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director - Data Strategy and Governance will lead a small team to:
- Build strong and constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- Ensure the Branch's data governance practices are robust and in line with legislation and best practice.
- Support data sharing activities including the implementation and operation of the ECEC data SEADpod (a new initiative in data sharing with jurisdictions via the ABS' SEAD platform).
- Embed the Department's Data Strategy in Branch practices.
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines whilst supporting the team to deliver work to a high standard.
- Draft data governance documents such as Data Sharing Agreements, Public Interest Certificates, and Privacy Impact Assessments.
- Contribute to papers for intergovernmental groups and oversee delivery of Secretariat duties as required.
- Encourage effective engagement with data by the ECY Group and promote its value in informing policy development.
- Develop and sustain a cohesive and collaborative way of working in a multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed team.
