Hays are proud to be partnering with The Friends’ School as they are seeking a detail‑oriented and customer-focused Accounts Receivable Officer to join their Financial Services team on a permanent, part-time basis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accurate and timely invoicing of student fees and effective management of the school’s accounts receivable processes.
Your new role
Reporting to the Accounts Receivable & Payroll Team Leader, you will work closely with finance and school stakeholders, supporting high-quality financial services within a values‑driven educational environment. In this varied role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of accounts receivable functions, including:
1. Invoicing student fees, levies, scholarships, bursaries and authorised sundry debtors
2. Maintaining student and debtor master files in Synergetic and MYOB Advanced
3. Calculating payment plans and direct debit amounts for new and continuing families
4. Performing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining student sub‑ledgers
5. Assisting with month‑end reconciliations and general ledger journals
6. Managing debtor collections, responding to enquiries and resolving discrepancies
7. Administering the Accounts Receivable fees email inbox
8. Providing relief support to the Accounts Receivable & Payroll Team Leader as required
9. Promoting a strong child‑safe culture in line with the National Child Safe Standards
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
10. Proven experience in accounts receivable and debtor management
11. Strong working knowledge of MYOB accounting systems (experience with Synergetic highly regarded)
12. Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet critical billing deadlines
13. High levels of discretion and confidentiality in an education environment
14. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
15. Alignment with the purpose, values and ethos of The Friends’ School
16. A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card and National Police Check
