Kick start your career as a Graduate Social Worker within a supportive, multidisciplinary Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (MHAODS). This temporary full time role (commencing ASAP until 07 February 2027) offers hands on clinical experience, structured learning, and the chance to make a real impact across North West Queensland communities while completing the Allied Health MHAODS Graduate Program.
About The Role
As a Social Worker (Allied Health MHAODS Graduate), you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering intake, assessment, case management and counselling to people accessing Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs services. You'll support consumers across a range of specialised teams, contribute to early intervention and prevention initiatives and build strong partnerships with government and non-government agencies, all while being guided through a comprehensive graduate development program.
Provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed and evidence based care through assessment, care planning, counselling and case management.
Participate in the Allied Health MHAODS Graduate Program, including individualised learning plans, completing training, development and assessment activities, participating in mentoring and reflection meetings as well as completing the required competencies.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to support coordinated pathways of care across diverse settings.

Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 p.f.

Requirements
Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
The successful applicant must have graduated with a tertiary degree qualification in Social Work in the past 12 months providing eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of the Social Workers (AASW).
Blue Card - Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health staff seek a 'working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
All employees of the MHAOD Service (MHAODS) may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
The successful applicant may be required to work rostered shifts over a seven (7) day rotating roster.
C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
A period of probation may apply.
