Other capital city office locations may be consideredUnder the Bureau’s 2022-2027 Strategy, the Energy & Resources (E&R) Program, part of the Business Solutions Group, aims to deliver an additional $1bn of impact and value to enhance the safety, reliability, resilience, and productivity of the energy and resources sectors in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.The E&R operations team provides specialised products and services to meet customer needs, including marine forecasting, tropical and high-impact weather such as wind, waves, squalls, and cyclones for the resources sector, and severe weather, thunderstorms, heatwaves, and fire weather for the energy sector.We are seeking energetic, customer-focused meteorologists to join the E&R Operations team in Melbourne, Brisbane, or Perth. Experience in an operational service delivery environment is preferred; specialist E&R meteorological operations training and certification will be provided if required.The E&R Operational Meteorologist will maintain a suite of products and services, including tailored solutions for specific customers. The role involves developing forecast policies, collaborating with meteorologists, and ensuring consistent service delivery.You will be responsible for producing and issuing forecasts and warnings, liaising with customers and partners, providing briefings, and supporting decision-making.To succeed, you will develop skills in scientific, technical, and professional fields by:Learning forecasting and customer requirements continuallyContributing to E&R projectsParticipating in the Bureau's Performance Development SchemeMentoring less experienced staff in forecasting and customer serviceShift work is required for this role.
