Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub‑regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne and serves an immediate population of approximately 42,000 in Central Gippsland and a wider community in East Gippsland.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield) and includes a full‑time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and sub‑acute services including rehabilitation.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
About Department
The department consists of a Department Manager, Grade 2, Grade 1 Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants.
CGH Dietetics services the Wellington Shire (excluding Yarram and District) within the facet of community dietetics. The department is also responsible for servicing Central Gippsland Health acute wards in Sale and sub‑acute wards in Maffra as well as a number of residential aged care facilities within the region.
About the Role
It is a diverse role spanning a variety of dietetic areas and provides a number of professional challenges which keeps life interesting. The focus of this position may be in the community areas initially however there may be opportunity to move into the acute space.
Key responsibilities include delivering community outpatient dietetics, group presentations, managing home enteral nutrition clients, supporting our aged care facilities in the area and potentially providing some outreach community support to towns within the Wellington Shire.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Bachelor of Dietetics or equivalent
* Membership of the Dietitians Australia (DA) and active participation in the APD programme (including eligibility for an HPI‑I number)
* Experience in community dietetics, especially knowledge of statistical requirements
* The ability to work under pressure, be flexible and have appropriate initiative are essential to this role
