Launceston General Hospital
The Launceston General Hospital is an accredited 450-bed teaching hospital and the major referral hospital for Tasmania’s North and North-West. It provides emergency, acute, specialist, inpatient, and ambulatory care to Launceston and surrounding areas. It employs around 2,300 staff, making it the largest employer in the region.

Clifford Craig Foundation
The Foundation is the community arm of the hospital, aiming to improve community health through funding medical research, health professional education, medical equipment, and patient facilities. Position Details
Fixed-term, full-time, day position with on-call duties, up to 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible for two years. Hours are negotiable.
The selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for 12 months after the initial posting.
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $216,300 - $310,389 annually, plus superannuation and benefits. Salary range depends on meeting criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
* Additional allowances and benefits include salary packaging, private vehicle allowance, private practice scheme options, relocation support, professional development, fitness programs, and other entitlements.
Eligibility and Requirements
Must hold specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty. Registration must be current and valid.
Desirable criteria include fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and a valid driver’s license.
