What you'll do As the Senior Data Scientist, you will lead the development and maintenance of modern analytical workflows, coding practices and data pipelines, and ensure the reliable operation of diverse data interfaces and system applications. You will document process flows, clarify technical requirements, and provide expert advice to resolve complex issues across code, software and databases, including when working with other Queensland Health areas, consultants and vendors. You will also analyse health and related data and communicate results in written, oral and graphical formats for release by the Public Health Intelligence Branch. About you We are searching for someone with: * Demonstrated proficiency in analytical workflows, coding practices and data pipelines, including R, R Markdown/Quarto, SQL, visualisations and git, with proven ability to develop and optimise data ETL pipelines across diverse data sources. * Experience managing complex data interfaces and system applications, independently monitoring, investigating, and resolving issues across code, applications and databases using evidence-based systematic problem-solving. * Strong capability to document process flows and system behaviours, and provide clear advice on technical requirements and system enhancements, including liaising with Queensland Health teams, external consultants and vendors to establish guidelines. * Ability to undertake high‑level statistical analyses (e.g. using R and related software) to interrogate, manipulate and summarise complex health datasets, and to contribute to data standards, data quality guidelines and related policies. * Effective team member who supports a positive, continuous‑learning culture and shows a demonstrated interest in health, public health issues or health systems.
