About the role:

Step into a role where leadership and impact go hand in hand. You'll oversee the full employee lifecycle - from recruitment to payroll – and ensure processes are seamless, efficient, and people focused. More than a technical expert, you'll be a trusted leader who empowers your team, guides business units with confidence, and inspires a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across Council.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Services and working closely with the People & Culture Business Partner, responsibilities of this role include:

· Lead and support the People & Payroll team

· Oversee recruitment, onboarding and payroll operations

· Provide expert HR and payroll advice across Council

· Ensure compliance, risk management and accurate reporting

· Champion learning and development initiatives

The ideal candidate will have:

Ideally degree qualified and preferably from a local government, community focused, or strong regulated or compliance orientated sector, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in:

· Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and support a small team.

· Strong knowledge of HR, payroll and recruitment processes

· Excellent communication and relationship building skills

· A proactive, solutions-focused approach with attention to detail

· Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering a great employee experience

The position is offered as a full time, fixed term 5 year contract at General Officer Level 7 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council's current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $119,455 to $126,819 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
