Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Emergency Medicine, Maitland Hospital (HNELHD).
About the Role
- Provide high-quality emergency care in a Tier 2 ACEM-accredited training site.
- Contribute to education, policy development, and telehealth support for rural sites.
- Manage a diverse caseload including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, obstetric, and paediatric presentations (paediatrics ~25%).
- Participate in after-hours and weekend rosters.
- Mentor and train junior medical officers and Emergency Medicine trainees in an innovative teaching environment, with strong support from senior management.
About Maitland Hospital
- Modern facility opened January 2022 designed for future growth.
- 8-bed Emergency Short Stay Unit; Level 5 ICU, general medicine and surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, O&G;, paediatrics, and mental health.
- Located 25 minutes from Newcastle and 15 minutes from the Hunter Expressway.

About You
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or within 6 months of completion.
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
