Company
This modern accounting firm has built its operating model around technology, automation and AI, with the clear objective of improving efficiency and allowing accountants to focus on higher-value client work rather than administrative bottlenecks. The partners are commercially astute, approachable and highly experienced, representing a new generation of leadership within the profession. The firm services a high-quality client base, primarily larger and more complex private groups, and provides end-to-end accounting and financial support well beyond traditional year-end compliance. Rather than operating as a transactional tax practice, the firm maintains ongoing engagement with clients throughout the year, supporting them with cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, budgeting and longer-term strategic and succession planning. The intention is to act as a long-term outsourced finance partner, not simply a compliance provider. As a Xero-based practice, systems and processes are structured and well defined, creating a stable and organised working environment for fully remote staff.
Position
This is a 100% work-from-home Client Manager position. A full remote setup is provided, including dual monitors and ergonomic equipment to ensure a professional and efficient home office environment. Despite being fully remote, the firm places a strong emphasis on connection and development. Weekly team huddles, structured training sessions and quarterly in-person catch-ups in major capital cities are part of the rhythm, with travel and accommodation covered by the business. This role sits across the top of the firm's compliance and advisory output, owning the client relationship, reviewing work quality and ensuring deliverables meet the firm's standards before they reach the client. You'll manage a portfolio of clients, many of which have turnover exceeding $15 million per annum and operate across more complex entity structures, acting as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor. The role carries genuine advisory scope. Beyond reviewing compliance work, you'll be actively involved in cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, budgeting and management reporting as part of the firm's ongoing client engagement model. This is a relationship and quality role, not a production role.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing client relationships as the primary point of contact, providing commercial guidance and ensuring exceptional service delivery across a portfolio of complex private groups
* Reviewing the work of junior and intermediate team members across BAS, IAS, income tax returns, and financial statements, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency before client delivery
* Overseeing compliance workflows across individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts and groups, with exposure to CGT, FBT and broader tax considerations
* Contributing to advisory engagements including cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, budgeting and strategic planning as part of the firm's outsourced finance partner model
* Supporting the development of junior staff through structured feedback, mentoring and on-the-job coaching within a remote environment
Candidate
The firm is seeking an existing Client Manager, Senior Accountant or Supervisor with a strong foundation across business services compliance and the commercial confidence to own client relationships and lead the quality of work across a team. To be considered for this position, you will have:
* Full working rights and currently based in Australia
* 7+ years' experience within Australian Public Practice Accounting
* CA or CPA qualified
* Demonstrated experience reviewing work across BAS, financial statements, income tax and broader compliance
* Strong client relationship management skills with the confidence to act as a trusted primary contact
* Exposure to companies, trusts and group structures, ideally across larger and more complex clients
* Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
* The ability to work independently within a structured remote environment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in an advisory capacity, including involvement in forecasting, budgeting or management reporting, will be highly regarded. Equally, the firm values professionals who are technically strong in compliance and genuinely interested in developing their advisory capability further. Comprehensive mentoring and structured training are provided, and the firm places a strong emphasis on professional development within a progressive, technology-driven environment. This role would suit someone looking for genuine flexibility while stepping into greater client ownership and team leadership within a modern advisory practice.
