My client is a long established NFP that have been supporting vulnerable people and people in crisis for over 150 years, across Australia.
My client is seeking a passionate and caring individual, who has a natural ability to connect and engage with people from all walks of life who are seeking help. As the Client Support Officer, you are the friendly face to listen and provide support. Often people are in crisis and seeking immediate assistance in food, clothing, financial assistance, and personal essential needs, which are all available to them, along with referrals to other services to assist them with their short and long-term needs.
Hours are 0900-1600, Monday to Friday, there is no on-call or weekend work. Hourly rate will be $45ph + Super, paid weekly. The Redfern train station is a 5 min walk or there is onsite parking if you prefer to drive.
**What you will be doing**:
- Welcoming clients in a way that builds their confidence in themselves and the service
- Undertaking an assessment to identify the range of support needed for each person/family
- Coordinate referrals to appropriate internal and external services when required
- Monitor/track outcome of the referrals, and undertaking evaluations
- Complete documentation (case notes, relevant forms etc)
- Working collaboratively with volunteers and team members, always using a person-centered approach using the WE CARE Framework
- Maintaining client's confidentiality and privacy
**What you need to be successful**:
- Understanding of the issues involved in working with people dealing with challenging issues
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with vulnerable people, that may include CALD backgrounds, mental illness, disability and/or alcohol or drug issues
- Administrative skills, especially in coordination and organisation
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experience
- Effective problem solving, time management
- Competent computer skills
- Working knowledge of WHS
- Ideally, experience working in the community sector
- Experience and effectiveness in liasing with government and non-government agencies/departments
**Qualifications & Checks**:
- Minimum, Certificate IV: Community Services, Social Sciences, Education,
Social Work, Psychology, Welfare, Health Studies or related area
- Ideally 2 years' experience working with vulnerable people
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check
