Academic Level D: $155,180 - $170,518 + 17% superannuation contributions.

About the Opportunity
James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a visionary
Academic Head, Nursing and Midwifery
to lead a vibrant academic community committed to excellence in education, research, and clinical practice.
Based at our cutting-edge clinical teaching facilities in Townsville or Cairns, you will:
Provide strategic leadership and academic direction for nursing and midwifery programs.
Drive innovation in curriculum design, teaching, and research.
Mentor and support academic staff and students.
Build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, industry, and community organisations.
Champion outcomes that improve healthcare in regional, rural, and remote communities.
For the first three years, you will also serve as
Academic Group Head - Nursing and Midwifery
, focusing on developing future academic leaders and strengthening industry engagement and research impact.
About you
You are a passionate clinician and academic leader with:
A postgraduate qualification and current registration as a Nurse (Division 1) and/or Midwife with AHPRA.
Proven academic leadership in teaching, research, and service.
A commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education.
A collaborative mindset and a drive to mentor others and foster innovation.
A desire to make a meaningful difference through education and research.
