About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to support communications and extension activities within our organization.
This position is part of our commitment to build our profile as a leader in agricultural research, development, and extension.
You will use traditional and digital media tools and activities to engage our major stakeholders in the Australian grains industry.
This is a development-focused role, ideal for recent graduates eager to grow their skills in science communication.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Researching, writing, and preparing written communication materials including media releases, blog posts, case studies, outward facing reports, and website copy for publishing through relevant channels (website, social media platforms, flyers, and e-newsletters).
* Assisting with logistical requirements for events that target our stakeholders and supporting brand awareness.
* Contributing to content creation and management of social media accounts according to our social media strategy, including X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
* Supporting the creation of other communications materials including videos, podcasts, tools, and resources.
* Supporting updates and management of the website through WordPress.
* Supporting reviews and reporting on communications activities.
* Supporting linking media requests with relevant researchers and general communications support to staff and students.
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for individuals with:
* A degree in a relevant discipline such as Agricultural Science/Agribusiness, science communications, public relations, marketing, or related subject area.
* Experience in professional writing, social media, and the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely communication materials.
* Experience in event coordination, using outstanding organizational skills to set priorities and meet deadlines to deliver an industry outcome.
* Passion for science and science communication.
