Your role
Due to continued growth in their Public Liability practice, Slater and Gordon’s Newcastle office is offering an exciting opportunity for a proactive, passionate, and results-driven Graduate or First Year Lawyer. The successful candidate will work with one of the firm’s most experienced and respected national practice groups, managing their own files and engaging in discussions about flexible work arrangements.
Slater and Gordon’s public liability lawyers assist clients with claims involving injuries caused by another party’s breach of duty, such as slips, unsafe premises, animal attacks, defective products, sporting accidents, and more.
In addition to taking on a wide range of challenging legal matters, this role will also see you manage and strengthen existing community relationships along with initiating and building new networks. Your responsibilities will include:
* Instrumental in managing a Public Liability practice
* Continually exploring new opportunities for your practice and developing new business
* Maintaining strong client relationships
* Exceptional negotiation skills and an ability to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management
* Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously

About you
Y ou will be a committed and enthusiastic individual who possesses the following:
* Previous experience and/or a passion for Public Liability law
* Superior communication skills
* A calm and easy-going nature
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
* Ability to handle sensitive issues and challenging clients
* Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously
* Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management
