Mig-Co Engineering is a family-owned and operated business established in 1997. We specialise in fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly across mining, oil & gas, defence, manufacturing and commercial marine sectors.
With strong growth and a brand-new workshop currently under construction in Hope Valley, we're investing in our future and in our people.
The Role
This is a hands-on workshop position, with some local onsite work required, involving precision mechanical fitting and assembly work. You will work both independently and within a team to complete allocated work scopes to a high standard. There will also be opportunity for local on-site project work.
Core Responsibilities
* Drilling, reaming and bearing surface scraping
* Assembling machinery and structural metal components based on blueprints and technical schematics
* Diagnosing faults, dismantling machines, and replacing worn or defective parts to minimise downtime
* Using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometres) to check part accuracy and alignment
* Alignment of drive shafts, bearings, pulleys, gearboxes and drive systems
* Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
* Assisting with apprentice training and supervision as required
* Maintaining high-quality workmanship and safety standards
About You
You are a confident, trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong technical knowledge and a solid understanding of industry best practices. You work efficiently, safely, and take ownership of your work.
Skills & Requirements
* Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and mechanical systems.
* Tools Proficiency: Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
* Physical Aptitude: Strong hand-eye coordination and physical fitness for lifting, climbing, and working in tight spaces.
* Qualifications: Completed apprenticeship or trade certification (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade).
* Other Eligibility Criteria: Ability to pass site medical and drug & alcohol testing. Permanent Australian resident with full working rights
* Defence-related screening applies, including identity, work-rights and criminal-history checks.
