IT Manager Position with Mid-Sized Mining Company

The Role
The IT Manager role reports into the GM Finance and is responsible for managing all IT Systems, Infrastructure and services across head office along with various sites.
In addition to overseeing daily IT support and infrastructure, the IT Manager leads the planning and delivery of technology projects, manages vendor relationships, and ensures alignment with cybersecurity standards and organisational goals. The role includes end-to-end project and budget management, procurement, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of IT processes and systems.
Responsibilities, Tasks & Outcomes
End-User Support and Administration
* Provide responsive, high-quality end-user IT support across multiple channels, including device troubleshooting, account management, software issues, and application support
* Oversee the service desk, monitor SLAs, coordinate site IT operations, and liaise with vendors and internal teams to optimise IT services
Systems Administration and Infrastructure Management
* Administer Active Directory, secure data storage, business-critical systems (ERP, CMMS, SCADA), and LAN/WAN networks
* Oversee core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, firewalls, telecommunications, and virtual environments
Strategic IT Leadership and Management
* Define and lead IT strategy, aligning technology with business goals and operational needs.
* Drive continuous improvement through performance monitoring, vendor management, SLAs, and compliance.
* Lead IT governance, change management, and innovation initiatives.
* Oversee enterprise architecture, IT operations, infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity strategy
Experience Required
Technical
* Servers & Virtualisation:
Physical and virtual servers (VMware, Hyper-V), storage systems, backup solutions (Veeam, Acronis).
* Networking & Security:
Routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet), LAN/WAN hardware, cybersecurity tools and monitoring systems (SentinelOne, CrowdStrike).
* Software & Applications:
Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), Active Directory/Azure AD, SCADA and mining-specific software (Pitram, Pronto, SAP), business and enterprise applications.
* Endpoint & Device Management:
PCs, mobile devices, peripherals, printers, scanners, radios; endpoint management tools (SCCM, Intune).
Behavioural
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to managing risk, budgets, and project timelines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration.
* Highly organised and self-driven, capable of working independently and maintaining performance under pressure in a fast-paced environment
