About the Team:
The CCU Finance Officer leads a team of four staff and oversees the corporate card program across Queensland schools and central/regional offices. As the key contact for corporate card administration, you will be responsible for reviewing transactions, supporting stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. We are looking for a candidate with strong technical skills, including Excel for data analysis, knowledge of financial processes, and experience using OneSchool Finance. Just as key are your people skills - clear communication, critical thinking, and the ability to lead a team to meet performance targets.
About the Role:
As the Finance Officer, Accounts Payable you will:
- Provide operational advice and support relating to the delivery of accounts payable services to a cross section of departmental clients.
- Assist to monitor and maintain the operational integrity of assigned accounting practices and procedures to achieve excellence in the provision of financial services to our clients.
- The Finance Officer, reports through a Senior Team Leader, Accounts Payable to the Manager Accounts Payable, Financial Operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams involved in providing financial services.
- Resolve problems and assist in the development and implementation of financial processes and systems, which focus on best practice, to achieve real and measurable change and productivity improvements.
- Prepare briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Manager, the Director and other senior departmental officers on financial management issues.
- Undertake financial analysis and financial planning to support the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Monitor finance activities to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and standards.
- Implement and monitor finance service standards in consultation with clients to ensure their needs are met.
- Participate in the preparation of unit operational plans and other special finance projects as required.
- Liaise with DoE officers and other government and private organisations to ensure that departmental practices reflect contemporary financial reform.
- Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.

About You:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing and reviewing financial transactions.
- Excellent time management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Confident in interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Clear communicator with the ability to liaise with stakeholders across various levels.
- Experience in finance or accounts payable, particularly with corporate card programs (desirable).
- Ability to support, guide, and supervise a small team to meet KPIs.
- Proactive and committed to continuous improvement and service excellence.
