Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Support Engineer

Offer description

Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global data centre infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centres and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help support these challenges.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS globally to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. You'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. You will be a valued member of an exceptional global team working on local problems, thriving in a dynamic and enthusiastic environment that combines dedication and enjoyment.

At Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will get hands-on experience with tools and services that exist outside the scope of native AWS products. This presents an exciting opportunity to engage with systems you might not encounter otherwise, allowing you to gain invaluable experience in infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

* Provide technical support and troubleshoot and debug technical systems. Scripting in modern programming languages is a plus.
* Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability).
* Dive deep to pinpoint underlying causes of software-based issues and assist in escalations when necessary.
* Apply Linux expertise to troubleshoot, innovate solutions, and resolve technical issues.
* Efficiently manage ticket queues for internal and partner service teams to ensure SLAs are met.
* Lead efforts to enhance operational efficiency by analyzing root causes, trends, and developing metrics, procedures, tools, and documentation.
* Collaborate with internal service teams on company-wide initiatives, including patching, OS migrations, and code releases.
* Work with internal software development teams to enhance systems and services within the team's scope.
* Engage with experienced engineers and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with the team.
