Hays is proud to be partnering with Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) to recruit a Finance Manager into their leadership team.
AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the Northern Territory. For over 30 years, AMSANT has worked alongside Aboriginal communities to strengthen culturally safe, community‐controlled primary health care and advocate for improved health outcomes. With member services delivering care across remote communities, town camps and homelands, AMSANT plays a critical role in supporting high‐quality, comprehensive primary health care, while influencing policy, funding and system performance across the NT.
Your new role
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Finance Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the financial stewardship of AMSANT and its auspiced services. This position combines hands on financial management with strategic contribution, ensuring robust financial systems, supporting organisational decision making and enabling the delivery of critical services across the NT.
You will lead a small Finance team and partner closely with the Executive and Senior Management Team to ensure strong financial governance, compliance and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop the Finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
2. Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting to the Executive, Board and funding bodies
3. Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across the organisation.
4. Manage cash flow, investments and financial sustainability
5. Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations (BAS, IAS, FBT) and funding requirements
6. Support the annual audit process and ISO/quality compliance
7. Maintain strong financial systems, controls and processes
8. Contribute to strategic planning and organisational performance as a member of the Senior Management Team
What you'll need to succeed
You are a commercially capable finance leader who is motivated by purpose and impact. You bring a strong foundation in financial management, ideally within complex, grant‐funded or not‐for‐profit environments and are confident operating at both strategic and operational levels.
You will demonstrate:
9. A commitment to Aboriginal community control and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Aboriginal communities in the NT
10. Formal accounting qualifications (CA/CPA)
11. Significant experience in a senior finance role within organisations managing $10M+ budgets
12. Significant experience in grant accounting, including the proven ability to successfully negotiate with and build respectful relationships with funding bodies
13. Experience leading and developing finance teams
14. Strong financial reporting, compliance and audit capability
15. Advanced systems and spreadsheet skills
16. Sound knowledge of taxation requirements relevant to the NFP sector
Experience in the health sector or Aboriginal community-controlled sector will be highly regarded.
