Full-Time | Permanent Role | Nationally Recognised Design Firm
Are you the kind of person who can walk into a busy environment, listen deeply, spot the bottlenecks instantly, and quietly build the systems that make everything run smoother?
If so, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
Design Australia Group is one of Australia's trusted residential building design partners for volume builders nationwide. We're in a strong growth phase and building out our internal structure, and we're looking for an Operations Assistant to support our Founder & Creative Director.
This is not a typical "assistant" job. It's a strategic operational role for someone who can think, analyse, organise, and help shape the way our business functions as we scale.
About the Role
You'll work directly with our Founder & Creative Director, Design Director and Executive Assistant to build and implement the systems, programs, workflows, and reporting that support the next stage of DAG's national growth.
You will become the operational right-hand to the Founder and Creative Director helping translate ideas and structural needs into clear, actionable business systems.
You will also act as the bridge between leadership roles, ensuring communication flows smoothly and operational issues are resolved before they become roadblocks.
If you enjoy solving problems, organising, and helping people work better together… you'll thrive here.
What You'll Be Doing
* Working with the Founder and Creative Director to build internal systems, SOPs, project structures, and workflow programs.
* Implementing those systems across the team with clarity and confidence.
* Meeting regularly with the Design Director to understand bottlenecks and workload pressure points.
* Analysing issues, identifying root causes, and developing practical solutions.
* Communicating insights and recommendations back to the Founder & Creative Director with clear action plans.
* Supporting leadership by coordinating priorities, documenting decisions, and keeping internal programs moving.
* Developing reporting frameworks related to workflow efficiency, team operations, and internal KPIs.
* Improving communication between Founder & Creative Director, Design Director, Executive Assistant and team members so everyone stays aligned.
About You
We're looking for someone who is more than organised — someone who thinks.
You'll bring:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Exceptional listening and communication abilities
* A natural talent for structure, organisation, and systems
* The ability to work autonomously and confidently
* High emotional intelligence
* Professional maturity and discretion
* A sense of responsibility and ownershipThe ability to "get inside the Founder's & Creative Directors mind" and understand intent quickly
* Confidence navigating conversations between leadership and team members
* A practical, solutions-first mindset
Extra points if you have:
o Experience in operations, executive support, or business analysis
o Exposure to design, drafting, construction, or professional services environments (Advantageous though not a requirement)
o Experience with workflow tools (Karbon, Asana, Monday, excel, etc.)
But ultimately, we hire for capability, attitude, and alignment — not job titles.
Why Join Us?
o Work directly with the Founder & Creative Director of a growing national design firm
o Be part of building the structure that supports our long-term vision
o A role with real impact, influence, and visibility
o A team that values clarity, accountability, and forward thinking
