The office of Senator the Hon. Katy Gallagher is seeking applications for an enthusiastic Digital Communications Adviser to create engaging digital content for the minister’s social media channels. This role is based at the Australian Parliament House in Canberra, ACT.

About the role

The Adviser works closely with colleagues in the minister’s team, in the Electorate Office, and with digital teams across other ministerial offices to help communicate the work of the Albanese Labor Government.

Applicants will possess skills in graphic design, video editing, and photo production and be able to successfully communicate a political message through visual mediums.

In this role, the Digital Communications Adviser will:

* Design and produce digital content, including graphics, photos, and videos, for a range of social media platforms and community engagement materials.

* Develop and execute digital media campaigns.

* Lead on filming, photography, editing, and post-production.

* Stay up to date with online trends and innovations in content creation, video production, and digital marketing.

* Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.

* Perform other duties as required by the Senator and/or Chief of Staff.

Skills and experience required:

* Demonstrated experience in digital campaigning, with a focus on social media and content creation.

* Practical experience capturing high quality photos and vision, as well as with editing, lighting and audio equipment

* Graphic design skills including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), video editing software, and other content production tools.

* Good visual eye and storytelling ability, as well as strong writing and editing skills that can be used to craft persuasive content for various digital and social media channels

* Ability to manage multiple content projects and meet tight deadlines.

* Excellent relationship management skills and proven ability to collaborate and work across stakeholders to achieve outcomes, particularly through working with other Ministerial Offices, the Australian Public Service and community stakeholders.

* Demonstrated ability to think and work strategically as a part of a small team and deliver quality work in a high-pressure environment.

* Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with constituents, stakeholders, colleagues and community groups.

Employment Conditions:

* The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:

* Depending on the level at which the position is filled, a commencing annual salary will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. Salary ranges are as follows:

o Adviser 2: $91,531 to $109,788

o Adviser 3: $109,788 to $154,780

* An additional Personal Staff Allowance of $34,223 per annum is payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, additional hours of work and travel requirements.

* Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).

* An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% is payable.

Applicants should note the following:

* Interstate travel will be required for this role as directed, with some irregular work hours, particularly during parliamentary sitting weeks.

* An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.

* The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.

* Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.

* The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.

* The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance (Negative Vetting Level 2) and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
