Join a Strategic Communication and Engagement Branch, which provides professional and strategic communication and engagement services to the Department of Housing and Public Works. You will use your proven strategic communication and management skills to lead and deliver proactive strategic communication services for the department. The Strategic Communication team develops and implements strategies and plans for various channels and audiences about the department's products, services, and initiatives.
As the Manager, Strategic Communication, you will be responsible for managing and leading strategic communication activities to support the department, fostering a productive and supportive working environment through leadership, coaching and effective resource management and ensuring effective evaluation for continuous performance improvement. This includes leading strategic communication planning and providing support to the Director, Communication and Content, Executive Director, Strategic Communication and Engagement, ministerial and departmental staff. Some after-hours work may be required, particularly to support significant disaster events. On-call allowances will be provided along with overtime and/or time off in lieu of after-hours work performed.
What You Will Be Doing
Leading the planning, development and implementation of communication strategies that promote departmental programs, products, services and initiatives and highlights how they contribute to improving the lives of Queenslanders
Providing high level advice to the Director, Executive Director and other departmental senior leaders on best practice strategic communication planning and delivery solutions
Providing strategic and research-based insight to ensure communication and engagement delivery is informed by insights, trends and research
Crafting tailored messaging for target audiences, identifying proof points and opportunities to tell the government's story in an engaging way
Monitoring and evaluating proactive communication and engagement activities through effective reporting, metrics and analysis to ensure continuous improvement
Building and maintaining strong relationships across the SC&E branch, department, Queensland Government and stakeholders to inform communication and engagement planning and implementation
Managing a high-performance team through effective resource management, coaching and mentoring that achieves results and delivers agreed programs of work, on time and budget
Managing workflow inside the branch - record and track progress of work taken on by the branch
Supporting departmental policies, procedures and contributing to effective governance processes
