Wuthathi Aboriginal Corporation (WAC) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for the Wuthathi people of North‑Eastern Cape York. We manage significant land and sea country, support cultural and conservation programs, and work towards strengthening Wuthathi community self‑determination.
We are seeking a Finance Officer to support Wuthathi’s mission, collaborating with our Ranger Program team and the wider organization to support and strengthen the Wuthathi community. If you enjoy accurate financial work, collaborating with others, and contributing to meaningful community outcomes, this is the role for you.
About the Role
As the Finance Officer, you will support the smooth operation of WAC’s financial systems by:
- Processing accounts payable/receivable, payroll and general ledger entries
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations and assisting with financial reporting
- Supporting budgeting, grant acquittals and audit preparation
- Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with funding and grant requirements
- Ensuring compliance with ATO, funding and organisational requirements
- Working collaboratively with program teams to support financial understanding and budget monitoring
Please note: This position is based in our Cairns office; however, occasional travel may be required.
About You
You will bring:
- Experience in finance/bookkeeping (MYOB or similar)
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
- Ability to work together with a small, supportive team
- Valuable communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with Traditional Owners and external partners
- Experience in Aboriginal corporations, not‑for‑profits or grant‑funded environments is highly regarded.
