About The Department Of Employment And Workplace Relations

We are committed to empowering futures, ensuring rights and enriching lives. We support people to have safe, secure and well-paid work with the skills for a sustainable future as we ourselves strive to be a model employer.

We provide the framework for fair and productive relationships between employers and employees. We also oversee skills development and training initiatives to support those entering the workforce or re-training to take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.

With us, your work directly contributes to shaping the employment landscape. Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.

It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the 'department of great jobs'– where our people reflect our purpose.

The Role

The Workforce Australia Provider Support Division is responsible for the frontline delivery of Australian Government-funded skills and employment programs, as well as place-based strategies that help ensure employers have access to skilled workers. The Division works closely with our department's policy and program areas and uses its unique position within each state and territory to gather intelligence that informs strategic, evidence-based responses to labour market needs and to advance government priorities.

The Division has strong relationships with training and employment services providers, employers, and industry associations as well as strategic relationships with other Commonwealth, State/Territory, and local government agencies.

Our providers deliver a suite of programs to help parents, young people, Indigenous Australians, and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds to overcome barriers to gain employment.

To be successful in the role, candidates should be highly motivated and demonstrate leadership and commitment to achieving quality outcomes. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with interstate colleagues, National office, and cross-agencies, including State Government.

We welcome government and non-government industry related candidates, and newcomers, who can learn quickly and contribute positively to our State Office culture that values initiative, inclusivity, and flexibility. Our positions are location/office-based to enable engagement with our local stakeholders.
