Job Description
About the role
As an Android Engineer, you'll help build and scale native Android experiences that directly impact conversion, retention, and customer lifetime value.
Current and upcoming initiatives include improving the booking flow, adding upsell and loyalty experiences, supporting offline use cases, and rolling out multi-language support as we take Luxury Escapes into new international markets.
You'll work on features that span the full customer journey — from discovery and search, through booking and payment, to post-booking and in-stay experiences.
Over time, this includes expanding how mobile supports travellers during their trip, with richer post-booking functionality and customer support surfaces.
In addition to the Android app, the mobile team owns a Node.js Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) that supports our apps.
Many engineers choose to up-skill and contribute across both mobile and backend layers, giving you the opportunity to work end-to-end on features if that's something you're interested in.
Qualifications
Strong experience building native Android apps using Kotlin (and Java where relevant)
Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI patterns
Experience with automated testing and maintaining high-quality, scalable codebases
Solid understanding of Android frameworks, the Android SDK, and modern app architecture (e.g. MVVM, Clean Architecture)
Experience integrating with RESTful APIs
Comfort with AI-augmented development workflows, using tools such as AI code assistants to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and support refactoring and testing
Ability to mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers
Interest or experience working with Node.js services (Backend-for-Frontend), or a willingness to upskill and contribute across the stack
