Contract Business Analyst - Data Migration & Integration Location: Melbourne (Hybrid Working Model) Contract Length: 12 month Initial term A high-profile retail organisation is undergoing a critical systems transformation, and we're looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support the data migration and integration workstream. This role is ideal for someone with deep technical knowledge, strong documentation capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously in complex environments. What You'll Be Doing Interpreting source system data and mapping it to target systems across various integration methods (API, ETL, file-based) Documenting field-level mapping rules, data formats, validation logic, and transformation requirements Collaborating with integration teams to refine interface specifications and data flow designs (including JSON, XML, and flat files) Working with stakeholders to document and optimise business processes - current and future state (Visio or Signavio experience preferred) Supporting QA teams by linking requirements to test cases, participating in defect analysis, and ensuring business needs are met Running workshops to extract and define both functional and technical requirements Maintaining structured, audit-compliant artefacts such as data dictionaries, interface specifications, and decision records What We're Looking For Extensive experience in data mapping and system integration across enterprise-level projects Strong understanding of data flow, transformation logic, and validation criteria Ability to confidently navigate large matrix organisations and operate with minimal supervision A meticulous mindset with a knack for clear, structured documentation Background in the retail sector is a must-have Nice to Have Familiarity with SaaS/cloud-based platforms and related data interfaces Knowledge of retail pricing and promotional systems Exposure to integration solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure PaaS Experience working in Agile delivery environments
