About the Role
MLC is seeking a casual Art and Design Technician to support the effective delivery of the Art and Design curriculum by providing specialist technical, operational, and administrative assistance across all studio areas. The role ensures learning spaces, equipment, materials, and exhibitions are well maintained, safe, and ready for use. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, the Technician enables high‐quality teaching and learning experiences while supporting students, staff, events, and departmental operations.
Responsibilities
* Planning and delivering highly engaging lessons in collaboration with members of the teaching team.
* Assess the needs of each studio area (Ceramics, Printmaking, Fashion, Photography, Wood Technology, Art, Visual Communication and Design) and ensure those needs are prioritised, materials are made available, and that all equipment is properly functioning.
* Assist students and staff on mounting, displaying, and conservation of artworks to help maintain and preserve the quality of art.
* In consultation with the HOD and Exhibitions and Events Coordinator assist in the construction and preparation of all exhibition components.
* Arrange repair and maintenance of Art & Design equipment; purchase new equipment as requested.
* When requested, work with students individually on artwork which requires additional technical expertise.
* Stack and unload kilns.
* Enter all required stock details onto the TASS system, ensuring correct prices, barcodes and quantities are on hand.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
* Proficiency in relevant digital tools and administrative systems.
* Appropriate qualification and demonstrated expertise in relevant technical areas.
* Current Working with Children's Check (WWCC) Employee registration.
* Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice.
* Alignment with MLC's values and policies.
* Right to work in Australia.
* Adherence to all College policies and demonstration of behaviours in accordance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
