ABOUT THE ROLE:
Our municipality is growing and with this, so is our need to respond to the significant increase in planning applications across the Shire.
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Statutory Planner to join the Strategy and Growth team on a permanent full-time basis. In this varied and fulfilling role, you will be responsible for processing land use and development applications and providing advice and assistance to Council and the public on planning matters. In addition, you will support the Principal Planners and Coordinator Statutory Planning to ensure Council's responsibilities as Planning Authority and Responsible Authority are met under the Planning and Environment Act.
We have flexible and working from home arrangements available provided site inspections, meetings, and other 'in the office' duties are carried out and managed.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
* Administer, implement and endorse the provisions of the Planning and Environment Act and Regulations; Subdivision Act and Regulations; and other relevant Acts and Regulations inc. Local Laws applicable to planning.
* Process and assess planning applications in accordance with the Bass Coast Planning Scheme, Planning and Environment Act and delegated authorities.
* Prepare reports on planning permit applications and other general planning matters for Council meetings and briefings.
* Fulfill customer service obligations.
