Legal Advisor/Deputy Registrar Position
The Waitangi Tribunal Unit is seeking a skilled legal professional to provide technical legal leadership within the Registry team. This role involves ensuring that claimants can have their claims registered and considered appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing legal expertise and advice to staff regarding the registration and handling of claims.
* Supporting the Registrar in providing technical legal leadership within the Registry team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor of Laws degree, alongside eligibility to hold a NZLS practicing certificate.
2. Well-developed negotiation, organisational and planning skills.
3. A solid understanding of Waitangi Tribunal jurisprudence.
4. Expertise in preparing written material of a complex and/or legal nature.
5. A proven ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents and data, including legislation, statistics, research and analytical reports, scholarly publications, and legal documents.
6. An enthusiastic approach to coaching and supporting colleagues.
