Primary objective
The Talent Acquisition Partner works with schools to attract and recruit high quality teachers, ensuring Northern Territory
students benefit from a strong and capable education workforce.
Context statement
The Department of Education and Training delivers, supports, and regulates early childhood, school education, and training services
across the Northern Territory. With 153 government schools across six regions — Central, Big Rivers, Barkly, Top End, Darwin and
East Arnhem — 71 percent are located in remote or very remote communities. Talent, Attraction and Recruitment, within the
School Leadership Culture and Care team, comprises 13 staff dedicated to supporting principals to attract and recruit classroom
teachers for Northern Territory public schools.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Screen teacher's suitability for employment, liaise with principals and recommend recruitment to the delegate.
1. Engage with pre-service and qualified teachers via presentations, local and interstate career expos and universities.
2. Provide high level workforce planning recruitment advice and support to develop strategies that are aligned to school/business
unit needs.
4. Prepare high level briefs with strategic and practical advice for senior staff and the Minister.
5. Initiate, develop, facilitate and maintain collaborative networks and relations with internal and external stakeholders including
teachers, principals, regulatory authorities and union officials.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience of contemporary attraction and talent acquisition and recruitment practices, including end to end
recruitment and candidate management.
1. Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and establish and maintain professional and
collaborative relationships with people at all levels with a customer centric approach.
1. Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise workload and complete tasks concurrently
within established timeframes.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Demonstrated ability to use and support others in the use of information technology including online employment systems,
analytical tools and databases.
6. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Comprehensive understanding
of cultural responsiveness in planning, attracting, recruiting, and deploying education workforce resources.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in business, human resources or a related discipline.
1. Demonstrated ability in interpreting and applying HR legislation frameworks and working visa processes.
2. Demonstrated experience with Northern Territory Government systems and policies.
