Part Time (0.4FTE) - Ongoing role

About VincentCare Victoria

VincentCare Victoria is an award‐winning organisation established to provide a range of accommodation and support services to people that are facing disadvantage throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria.

Our aspiration is to be the leader in providing care, hope and advocacy for those facing disadvantage. Our purpose is to create opportunities and lasting change for the most marginalised. VincentCare is well equipped to provide a continuum of services that effectively meet the needs of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Little Bit About The Role

VincentCare's Access Point, located within the Northern Community Hub, provides a drop‐in service for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

The role sits within the Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) team, which is responsible for triage, assessment, and supporting access to services across the Homelessness Service System.

The IAP Worker is often the first point of contact, delivering timely assessment, information, and planning tailored to each client's needs and choices. Working in a fast‐paced environment with high daily demand, the role requires strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Key responsibilities include crisis intervention, assessment, advocacy, referral to housing and support services, and the use of the Housing Establishment Fund (HEF) to provide financial assistance where appropriate. The role requires a strong understanding of the homelessness system and a trauma‐informed, client‐centred approach, particularly when working with people who have experienced complex trauma.

The IAP Worker works collaboratively with colleagues, external services, and community partners in line with the VincentCare Recovery Model. The role supports clients to navigate service systems and explore housing options, while ensuring accurate record keeping, compliance with relevant frameworks, and contribution to continuous service improvement.

Key Selection Criteria

* Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, or a related field, with 1–2 years' experience (or equivalent demonstrated experience where appropriate).
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
* Knowledge of issues impacting vulnerable clients, including homelessness, financial hardship, family violence, mental health, substance use, and disability.
* Ability to provide holistic, client‐centred assessments and responses to complex needs.
* Experience managing conflict and responding to challenging behaviours.
* Understanding of professional practice, ethical client engagement, and accurate case recording.
* Commitment to social justice, human rights, empowerment, and self‐determination.
* Cultural awareness and ability to adapt practice to diverse client needs.
* Strong organisational and time management skills in a high‐volume environment.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.

* We offer a workplace with a firm commitment to helping others.
* We are passionate about #SocialJustice.
