Primary objective
This position is an all-rounder in the café, admissions and gift shop area of the Territory Wildlife Park. It is responsible for
ensuring impeccable customer service, and for the preparation of quality food and hygienic maintenance of food preparation
areas. It is also the first point of contact for the Parks and Wildlife Online Booking System call centre on weekends and
public holidays providing services and support for the effective operation of the online booking system.
Context statement
The Visitor Services area supports and works to enhance visitor experiences at the Park. It is the first and last point of contact
for visitors. The Customer Service Assistant is responsible for the delivery of quality customer service and the provision of
accurate information and assistance relating to fees, along with passes, camping and walking trails in NT Parks.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure customer satisfaction and provide a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers at all times.
2. Serving of food, cleanliness and maintaining food safety standards.
3. Assist customers in the use of the Parks and Wildlife online booking system and process a range of booking applications
in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
4. Daily cleaning of the gift shop and cafe area.
5. Serving customers and ensuring products are fully and freshly stocked.
6. Complete stocktakes and reordering of stock.
7. Other duties within the work area as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to provide impeccable customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with customers
from diverse backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated basic cooking ability and ability to follow new recipes and/or instructions to cater for a range of
requirements, events and functions.
3. Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within a small team to contribute to achieving workplace outcomes.
4. Experience in cash handling, using point of sale systems, and ability to process electronic financial transactions.
5. Ability to follow instructions both verbal and written.
6. Demonstrated computer proficiency with the ability to accurately input and retrieve data using various computer
applications.
Desirable
1. NT C class driver’s licence or ability to obtain.
2. Work within a 7-day roster, including public holidays.
3. Understanding of Northern Territory Parks and Reserves.
