Job Overview
Florina's Greek Tavern is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our busy Greek restaurant in Elsternwick, 3185. The role involves preparing and presenting high-quality Greek cuisine while maintaining consistency, food safety, and kitchen efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook, and present Greek dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
* Plan menus in consultation with management, considering seasonal produce and customer preferences
* Ensure all food is prepared and stored in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
* Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation
* Manage kitchen operations during service, including timing and coordination with front‐of‐house staff
* Assist with stock control, ordering ingredients, and minimising wastage
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas
* Train and supervise kitchen staff as required
Skills and Experience Required
* Relevant qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent
* Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
* Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
* Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards
