The Opportunity
Skilled Medical is seeking an experienced GP ED / Rural Generalist for a long-term locum position at a 15-bed hospital on the far west of the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. This is an outstanding opportunity for Senior Medical Officers or General Practitioners with strong emergency medicine skills looking for rural GP jobs in SA or ED locum jobs in regional Australia.
Located approximately 550 km north-west of Adelaide, this small town (population ~2,289) is renowned as the "oyster capital of Australia," offering a unique coastal lifestyle. The hospital provides essential services to the community, including:
General medicine
Birthing services
Renal dialysis
Diagnostic radiology
Emergency care
Your role will primarily focus on Emergency Department (ED) cover, with 24-hour on-call responsibilities. On days when local doctors are covering the ED, you'll consult in the GP clinic (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays). You can expect a minimum of 4 days per 7-day period dedicated to ED. This diverse role ensures you'll make a significant impact on patient care in this vital regional hospital.
Requirements
Current AHPRA Registration (essential)
Right to Work in Australia (essential)
Proven experience as a Senior Medical Officer, General Practitioner, or Rural Generalist with significant Emergency Department experience.
Ability to manage a mix of ED and GP clinic responsibilities.
