Substation P&C Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a Substation Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department. The role offers flexibility for a hybrid work environment.
The candidate must reside within commuting distance of the office.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Collaborate with a team to complete complex electrical utility substation designs, ensuring compliance with client standards.
* Design detailed P&C systems for medium to extra high voltage substations, including:
o One-line diagrams
o P&C equipment selection
o Protection and control schematics
o Wiring diagrams
o SCADA and communications systems
o Material lists
o Conduit and cable routing and sizing
o AC/DC systems calculations and sizing
o Preparation of engineering documentation (RFIs, scope documents, equipment specs, protection/control descriptions, construction specs)
* Coordinate with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packages.
* Collaborate with other disciplines such as Physical, Structural, and Civil engineering teams.
* Participate in quality assurance and control programs.
* Assist in developing engineering proposals.
* Support project scheduling and budgeting efforts.
Required Education/Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) from an accredited university, preferably with a power specialization.
* Knowledge of substation equipment and its functions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.
* Strong written and oral communication skills in English for effective collaboration.
* Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
* At least three years of utility substation design experience.
* Ability to produce drawings from sketches, notes, vendor drawings, etc.
* Engineer Intern (EI) certification or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
