Join our Early Psychosis team and play a key role in delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed care to Aboriginal young people experiencing, or at risk of, first episode psychosis. Your work will help reduce the impact of untreated psychosis while supporting connection to culture, family, and community.

Employment Type: Full Time Temporary (Until 30 June 2026 with possibility of extension)

Remuneration: $72,186.00 - $134,338.00 per annum (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

About the role
The Senior Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides advanced, culturally safe clinical services to Aboriginal people experiencing, or at risk of, first episode psychosis across the Griffith and Wagga Wagga regions. The role is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, delivering evidence based and family inclusive interventions, and coordinating recovery oriented care aimed at reducing the duration of untreated psychosis. Working as a key member of the multidisciplinary Early Psychosis team, the clinician develops individualised care plans that address both clinical and cultural needs, including the impact of intergenerational trauma and cultural disconnection. The position also contributes to a positive, youth friendly service environment and provides supervision and support to junior clinicians in line with NSW Health and MLHD service standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Provide culturally safe mental health and psychosocial assessments
* Deliver evidence-based, recovery-oriented care for young people
* Coordinate care that supports clinical outcomes and cultural wellbeing
* Partner with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders
* Support family-inclusive practice and holistic care approaches
* Respond to crisis situations in collaboration with wider services
* Your contribution as a healthcare professional will have a meaningful and positive impact, which is felt at a community level.

Criteria
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

* Tertiary qualifications in nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, counselling, or Aboriginal Health (Djirruwang program), with current AHPRA registration or eligibility for membership with the relevant professional association.
* Demonstrated postgraduate experience working within mental health settings.
* Proven clinical experience and advanced knowledge in youth mental health and/or early psychosis.
* NSW Working With Children Check and NSW Class C Drivers Licence
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach
* This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. Exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
