Overview
Join our team as a Process Technician at a Tier 1 mining company's aluminium smelter in Gladstone. This hands-on role supports daily operations on the Reduction Lines by performing manual, high-risk tasks to ensure safety, efficiency and continuous production. This role is ideal for those who thrive in physically demanding settings and want to grow their career in heavy industry.
What you'll bring to the table
Strong manual handling skills and physical fitness
Ability to work in hot, dusty, and high-risk environments
Good situational awareness and hazard recognition
Ability to follow detailed processes, SWI/SOPs, and communicate via radio
Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a Lifestyle roster (2 days, 3 nights, equal rest days, 12-hour shifts) or 4/4 roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off)
Full PPE compliance: long sleeves, heat-resistant gear, respirator, gloves, etc.
Nice-to-have skills
Experience operating overhead cranes, sweepers, or plant equipment
Exposure to industrial environments such as smelting, mining, or manufacturing
Prior shift work experience
Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
Family or partners in shift work understood and appreciated
Preferred education and experience
Previous experience in heavy industry, trade assistance, labouring, or production roles
Manual handling capability with a focus on repetitive, physically demanding tasks
No medical restrictions such as asthma, lung issues, pacemakers, or metal implants
Ability to work in a respirator and around magnetic fields
Other requirements
Must reside locally in Gladstone, Tannum Sands, or Miriam Vale
Prepared for high physical demand: lifting up to 25kg, pushing wheelbarrows, raking, and manual skimming
Willing to work in a high-temperature, dust-filled environment with molten metal and moving machinery
No photos or digital devices allowed inside operational areas due to EMF safety
