J.L Pope & L.J Pope, trading as Carrots Fruit and Veg, is seeking a Retail Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of its fresh produce retail store in Cooktown, Far North Queensland.
This is a full-time, permanent position in a regional business servicing the local community.
Salary: $72,000 per annum plus superannuation
About the Role
The Retail Supervisor is responsible for overseeing store operations, maintaining high standards of customer service, and supervising retail staff across rostered trading periods. The role includes independent management of the store during quieter periods and supervision of staff during peak trading times.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring customers receive prompt service and high-quality goods and services, and resolving customer inquiries and complaints
* Opening and closing the store, including cash handling, reconciling tills and managing daily takings
* Managing cash flow within the store, including maintaining adequate change levels and ensuring accurate financial transactions
* Overseeing and maintaining product information within point-of-sale systems, including pricing, stock codes and product listings, to ensure accuracy of sales and inventory records
* Coordinating customer orders and ensuring timely fulfilment in accordance with service standards
* Receiving and processing stock deliveries, including verifying goods against invoices, identifying damaged stock and ensuring accurate stock records
* Monitoring stock levels and implementing stock control procedures to minimise waste, manage shrinkage and ensure efficient inventory turnover
* Ensuring merchandise is correctly priced and displayed, and that store presentation meets company standards to maximise sales and customer engagement
* Conducting regular stocktakes and maintaining inventory control systems
* Analysing sales data and identifying trends to support stock ordering and business performance
* Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including identifying maintenance issues and reporting hazards
* Supervising retail staff including task allocation, performance monitoring and on-the-job training to ensure operational efficiency and customer service standards are met
* Planning and preparing staff rosters and assigning duties to meet operational requirements
* Enforcing store security procedures and loss prevention measures
Requirements
* At least 2 years relevant experience in retail supervision or a closely related role.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise staff in a retail environment.
* Experience in stock control, merchandising and point-of-sale systems.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
