We are seeking a resilient and compassionate leader to oversee daily operations at a Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre.
This key leadership role involves:
* Managing a large, multidisciplinary team in a 24/7 environment
* Maintaining service delivery that meets contractual, legislative, and procedural requirements
* Cultivating a safe, respectful, trauma-informed environment for detainees and staff
* Nurturing close relationships with government partners, service providers, and community stakeholders
* Driving continuous improvement through performance metrics, audits, and team feedback
* Responding effectively to critical incidents, risks, and compliance issues
To succeed in this role, you must be a values-driven leader who thrives in high-pressure environments. You should lead with integrity, cultural sensitivity, and strike a balance between operational efficiency, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements:
* Proven leadership experience in detention, corrections, defence, emergency services, or similar
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Deep understanding of contract compliance, risk, and incident management
* Demonstrated ability to build positive team culture and high performance
* Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally sensitive practices
* Resilience and integrity under pressure
Eligibility Requirements:
* Australian Citizenship (required for security clearance)
* Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA security clearance and AFP check
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, justice, or human services (desirable)
