Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.
Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services.
It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.Our Vision: Representing the aspirations and interests of our diverse communities, we are dedicated to keeping Yarnangu strong on Country.The OpportunityThis is a unique prospect to deliver culturally appropriate, person-centred clinical nursing care to Yarnangu elders and people with disabilities living in remote communities across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
As a Remote Community Nurse, you will provide direct clinical care, conduct comprehensive health assessments, and develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans in collaboration with clients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.You will also manage NDIS Access Request Forms and aged care referrals, including identifying opportunities for respite at Wanarn Aged Care Facility and ensuring timely and accurate processing.
In this critical role, you will promote independence, health, safety, and wellbeing in accordance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and Disability Service Standards.Key responsibilitiesDelivering high-quality nursing care in homes and community settings, including medication administration, catheter care, wound management, and chronic disease support (e.g., diabetes, renal disease, and dementia).
Conducting comprehensive health and risk assessments and developing personalised care plans.Promoting preventative health, wellbeing, and independence through health counselling and education.Completing NDIS Access Request Forms and managing aged care referrals, liaising with external agencies and healthcare providers.Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and establishing respectful, culturally safe relationships with Yarnangu clients and families.Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and safety standards.Participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives and completing mandatory training relevant to the role.About YouYou are a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and essential experience in dementia care, along with aged care, disability services, and/or community nursing.
You bring strong clinical assessment and care planning skills, supported by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities that allow you to work both independently in remote environments and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.Your knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and the health, social, and cultural issues affecting remote communities enables you to deliver respectful, culturally safe care across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
You are proficient in clinical documentation and electronic health record systems and have a sound understanding of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services, Privacy, and Work Health and Safety obligations.
Experience working in remote or Aboriginal community care settings is highly regarded.To be successful in this role, you will hold a current First Aid Certificate and CPR, a Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
You must hold a valid Manual Driving Licence (4WD experience highly regarded).
