The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven individual to join us as a Civil Engineer. This is a unique opportunity for someone with experience in the design and documentation of all facets of civil design including:

- Extensive authority sewer and water design.

- Residential subdivision/land development projects

- “Inside the fence” experience in designing commercial, industrial and smaller residential developments.

This will strongly support your application as these broader civil capabilities will complement your detailed design skills and enhance your contribution to a diverse range of projects.

You will be required to be involved in the design and documentation of authority water and sewerage systems, including reticulation, connections, and compliance documentation in line with water authority standards.

Accordingly we are looking for an engineer who understands the design, approval, and accreditation requirements of the various water authorities (e.g., Barwon Water, Wannon Water, Coliban Water etc.) and is eligible for, or working toward, relevant authority accreditations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, build your technical skills, and contribute meaningfully to the civil team and the overall growth of PM Design Group.

Reporting to the Civil Team Leader, you will collaborate with engineering teams across multiple offices to deliver exciting projects across various sectors.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Mandatory:

- 4-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree or equivalent program accredited by Engineers Australia.

- Advanced in working towards registration as a Professional Engineer and endorsement to work in the building industry by the Business Licensing Authority of

- 4+ years local (Australian) applied design and documentation experience in an engineering consultancy in a similar civil engineering role.

- Strong expertise in water and sewer design, including experience working to the design and documentation standards of various water authorities.

- A solid understanding of accreditation pathways with water authorities, with a clear ability or intent to gain accreditation (e.g., through Barwon Water, Greater Western Water, etc.).

- Exposure to residential subdivision/land development and “inside the fence” is highly regarded.

- Excellent knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and water authority guidelines e.g. EDCM, IDM, WSA, MRWA and AS/NZ 3500.3.

- Expertise in delivering compliant designs, detailed documentation packages, and coordinating approvals with authorities.

- Proficiency in software such as 12D, Civil 3D, Civil Site Design, AutoTurn, DRAINS, MUSIC.

- Ability to ensure that all project deliverables meet quality, budget and timeline requirements with limited supervision and some autonomy.

- High level of attention to detail.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with water authorities, clients, and stakeholders.

- Current Victorian/Australian Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

- Site experience, including inspection, supervision, and technical reporting.

- Barwon Water Design and Construction individual accreditation.

- Design Assurance Scheme (DAS) accreditation for sewer and water.

- Chartered Status or working toward Chartered Status with Engineers Australia.

- Project leadership or mentoring experience.

- Construction Industry White Card.

- Registered as a Professional Engineer and endorsed to work in the building industry by the Business Licensing Authority of Victoria.
