About Mt Arthur Coal
Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100% owned by BHP, located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. It is the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders, and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join BHP's Mt Arthur Coal Mine's Drill & Blast team. Develop and refine your D&B engineering skills in one of the more complex large-scale through-seam coal mines. You will be part of an immediate four-person D&B team within the Short Term Planning department. The role offers strong peer and senior support and opportunities for development within D&B and the broader Tech Services function.
The position is currently offered on a residential Monday-Friday basis, with flexibility an option.
Some responsibilities include:
1. Design, optimize, and reconcile drill and blast activities for safe and productive mine progression.
2. Prepare weekly and monthly D&B performance reports.
3. Analyze customer needs and develop solutions to increase productivity, safety, and value.
4. Develop explosive forecasting aligned with the mine plan.
5. Build strong working relationships with the Drill and Blast operational team to ensure outcomes are achieved on schedule.
6. Manage risk through geotechnical controls in drill and blast design.
About You
* Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in drill & blast engineering, preferably in open-cut through-seam coal mines.
* Familiarity with mine planning software such as Blastlogic, Vulcan, Spry, Deswik, etc., is preferred.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* A passion for innovation and problem-solving.
