Due to growth at our site, Indie School Glenorchy is looking for an exceptional full-time teacher who is capable, tolerant, and kind.
What are we looking for?
You are a team player, preferring to work collaboratively rather than on your own.
You are comfortable with flexible work practices, hands-on tasks, and alternative curriculum delivery methods.
You love learning, are a teacher of people and celebrate inclusion, equity, and personalised learning.
You are compassionate and have experience with supporting students from Grades 9 to 12 who may have encountered barriers to learning.
You plan tasks to meet the learner's needs and enjoy planning and delivering practical, life-skill-based numeracy and literacy experiences.
You have experience with or are willing to work with our Year ***** cohort or 9/10 students, depending on school needs.
This is the teaching opportunity you have been waiting for; to help change lives in a well-resourced, responsive, and supportive environment
Our highly experienced teaching team is supported by a Head of School, Assistant Heads of School, Education Support Assistants, and Welfare Officers.
The role is planned to commence in January ****.
Indie School provides students the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individualised learning and education plans, tailored to each student's own education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths and work to improve areas in which they lack confidence.
The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that our foundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect and accountability all have a significant role to play. In return for higher levels of self-responsibility, the students can enjoy some greater freedoms.
Our schools are located in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, and we work with students who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education for a variety of reasons. Our aim is to re-engage students with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills and focus on the next step in the learning journey for each student: be that a desire to return to mainstream, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway or to get ready for the workforce.
Our shared mission is to respond to the learning needs of Australian communities in a positive manner, underpinned by strong corporate governance and financial management. Our core values of
respect
,
innovation
,
self development
, and
teamwork
underpin every aspect of our work.
